What are we waiting for?

Here is a true story.  I love stories.  I love to read them.  I love to write them.  I love to tell them.  When I was in middle school, I wanted to be a writer.  Stories have always surrounded me.

In the corporate world, my best writing was in the witty emails or one-liners I would occasionally write to co-workers or clients, spicing up our day with a chuckle or cause us to pause for a moment to contemplate something bigger than that moment.

So when I left to start my own business, I knew I wanted writing to be a part of it.  And the story of my future was huge and beautiful – I would coach clients as they reached for new heights, travel to new cities, meet new people, be inspired to write meaningful posts that I would share here, and take beautiful pictures that would move readers.

It was a stunning vision.  It was enticing, exciting, a story (of my life) that I couldn’t wait to tell.

And in fact, I got so caught up in this amazing vision, I didn’t realize I was waiting for it to happen, instead of actually living it.  I lost sight of the fact that if I want that life – I have to LIVE that life.  And today it hit me:  there is no waiting for this life.  We’re in it.  It’s happening.  Right now.  As my friend Svetlana says, THIS.IS.IT.

So I’m diving back in.  I’m getting back to writing, to sharing my pictures and stories.  Because if there’s one thing I love, it’s a good story and we only have one story in our life, so I’m going to tell a story I want to hear.

What story will your life tell?
